چکیده
Nanobem is a Matlab toolbox for the solution of Maxwell's equations nanophotonic systems and computation resonance modes, sometimes also referred to as quasinormal modes or states. It based on Galerkin scheme boundary element method, using Raviart-Thomas shape elements representation tangential electromagnetic fields at particle boundary. The written in an object-oriented manner with focus clarity rather than speed, has been developed tested small intermediate problems few thousand elements. uses contour integral method Beyn.

Nanophotonic control of the Förster resonance energy transfer efficiency.
We have studied the influence of the local density of optical states (LDOS) on the rate and efficiency of Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET) from a donor to an acceptor. The donors and acceptors are dye molecules that are separated by a short strand of double-stranded DNA. The LDOS is controlled by carefully positioning the FRET pairs near a mirror. We find that the energy transfer effici...
متن کاملImaging Nanophotonic Modes of Microresonators using a Focused Ion Beam.
Optical microresonators have proven powerful in a wide range of applications, including cavity quantum electrodynamics1-3, biosensing4, microfludics5, and cavity optomechanics6-8. Their performance depends critically on the exact distribution of optical energy, confined and shaped by the nanoscale device geometry. Near-field optical probes9 can image this distribution, but the physical probe ne...
متن کاملNanophotonic enhancement of the Förster resonance energy-transfer rate with single nanoapertures.
Tailoring the light-matter interaction and the local density of optical states (LDOS) with nanophotonics provides accurate control over the luminescence properties of a single quantum emitter. This paradigm is also highly attractive to enhance the near-field Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET) between two fluorescent emitters. Despite the wide applications of FRET in nanosciences, using na...
متن کاملA complement to the modern crystallographer's toolbox: caged gadolinium complexes with versatile binding modes.
A set of seven caged gadolinium complexes were used as vectors for introducing the chelated Gd(3+) ion into protein crystals in order to provide strong anomalous scattering for de novo phasing. The complexes contained multidentate ligand molecules with different functional groups to provide a panel of possible interactions with the protein. An exhaustive crystallographic analysis showed them to...
متن کاملRoundtrip matrix method for calculating the leaky resonant modes of open nanophotonic structures.
We present a numerical method for calculating quasi-normal modes of open nanophotonic structures. The method is based on scattering matrices and a unity eigenvalue of the roundtrip matrix of an internal cavity, and we develop it in detail with electromagnetic fields expanded on Bloch modes of periodic structures. This procedure is simpler to implement numerically and more intuitive than previou...
